Project Space began in sum­mer 2008 as a tem­po­rary venue located in an un-leased busi­ness space in down­town Salem. Each year PS changes slightly depend­ing on the innate require­ments of exhibit­ing in that par­tic­u­lar space.

The mis­sion of Salem Art Association’s Project Space is to provide:

• A space for artists to engage with one another
• A space for our com­mu­nity to engage with artists
• A venue for pro­fes­sional area artists to show con­tem­po­rary and exper­i­men­tal work
• A space that pro­vides access to con­tem­po­rary art and conversation

The pur­pose of the space itself:

• A space that can be uti­lized to serve mul­ti­ple arts pur­poses, such as instal­la­tion, per­for­mance, work space, con­ver­sa­tion, cross media exper­i­men­ta­tion and so-on
• A tem­po­rary and evolv­ing space
• Non-profit and non-commercial
